| iConserve Pennsylvania www.iconservepa.org Despite the gains, conservation is precarious. Habitat, scenery, and the quality of our air and water are constantly at risk. Worldwide problems like climate change have local ramifications. Poorly planned development and 21st-century living patterns have a huge cumulative impact. Invasive pests and plants seriously threaten the ecological balance. In addition, many people are becoming disconnected from nature and spending less time outdoors. Who will care about the degradation of our environment and its serious consequences? The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources leads everyday efforts to engage the public in its ongoing quest for conservation. Won't you join us? Pocono Freecycle is the place where you can post notices about the items you'd like to give away as well as things that you need. The only catch is that it has to be FREE!

Recycle Everything Book www.recycleeverythingbook.org Can everything be recycled? Yes, but it’s going to take imagination and innovation. Right now, we are taking what we want from the planet, using it, and throwing it away. It’s a one-way street from resource to landfill. But if we think there can’t be any other way, we are lacking imagination. Once a thing can be imagined, it can be engineered.

We came across this page http://www.closetheloop.com/links.html while working on our studies about finding ways we can help the environment be it a fun eco-friendly project or something we can do with our families at home to "go green." We found some resources on your page to be a useful contribution for our on-going project. Thank you for providing those sources!
As a class we wanted to offer resources that we found that we have voted as a class that would make a great addition to your page. We all will receive extra credit towards our project grade if you find these sources suitable enough for your site. This was our group class project we had to complete, but this is the last piece of the puzzle we need to finish before we make our presentations. We hope you find our resources useful and that you will help our class finish our project. This class project is finished this week, so we hope to hear back from you soon!
Thank you for taking the time to review our resources and we hope we have helped you as you have us!
Thanks again!
Sincerely, Mrs. Carter's 11th Grade Class

What You Can Do...
Ceramic Mugs
Bring your own ceramic coffee mug to meetings or the quick markets and ask if you can refill that instead of using a Styrofoam cup.
Cleanup
Use cloth towels instead of paper, they can be used again & again.
Donate
Clean up & donate your gently used toys to a charitable group or hospital. Bring old books you don't want to your library, check with your local library first to see if they'll accept them.
Grocery Shopping
When you go shopping, bring your own cloth bag or recycled grocery bags. Most grocery stores pay you a few cents to use your own bags. Congratulations to Kinsley's ShopRite in Brodheadsville, PA for purchasing new shopping carts made from recycled plastics!
Mosaic
Save broken & chipped plates, tiles & stained glass to use in surface decorating something old with a beautiful mosaic.
Paper Recycling
Save paper. Use both sides of every sheet or cut it up in small squares for note paper.
Rag Bag
Keep a rag bag of old, torn clothes and have a supply of rags to help clean house or use for messy projects.
Refill
Ask retailers to sell products in refillable containers.
Repair
Ease the burdon on the environment by fixing broken toys & other items instead of discarding.
Reuse
Take packaging "peanuts" to pack & ship businesses for reuse.
Six-Pack Rings
Before you toss six-pack rings into the garbage, cut all the circles with scissors so animals and birds can't get caught in them.
Slate
Save old SLATE roofing shingles for people to paint on.
Tire Swing
Hang an old tire swing for your kids, they'll love it! Make sure to drill a hole in the bottom, so the rain water can escape. Supervise them when swinging so they don't hit the tree trunk! Ouch!
Whoops Paint
Most paint stores have mixed tint paints that are new, excellent quality paints, but didn't meet the customers exact color needs. You can buy gallons of this paint for a few dollars and complete a small room, use for craft projects, use as an undercoating, etc.
